It is the capacity of an individual to do work effectively with joy and pleasure. After the work is over he still has sufficient capacity to do more work without any exertion. Moreover his recovery is faster and quicker. The level of physical fitness varies from person to person. It depends upon the nature of work, size, shape, structure, age, sex and adaptability of an individual.
Things we can do to maintain our Physical Fitness
1.Regular Exercise :-
We should perform exercises in a regular routine. If this regularity is broken it affects physical fitnesss. Our body is a different type of machine which improves and develops with regular exercise. So we must perform physical exercises regularly to maintain our physical fitness.
Yoga is a science as well as the art of living for healthy, happy and prosperous life. Its effects are mostly internal. Regular practice of yoga develops and purifies body and mind to the optimal level. It develops ability to control our sense organs to function properly. It relaxes our stresses and tensions to lead a peaceful life.
3.Balance Diet :–
Unbalanced diet, malnutrition and under nutrition reduce our efficiency whereas balanced diet improves our physical fitness. We must take balanced diet considering the type of activity, age, sex, weight, climate and disease, etc.
4. Meditation :-
Meditation is that which gives you deep rest. It is an activity in which the practitioner just sits and allows the mind to dissolve. Basically it is a simplified activity which can easily be practiced by all.
Meditation is not concentration. It is de-concentration.
5.Rest and Relaxation :-
After hardwork rest and relaxation is necessary otherwise it may affect physical fitness. Hardwork should be done properly with sufficient recovery from fatigue. It should not be too long.
Physical fitness is one’s richest possession; it cannot be purchased but it has to be earned through daily routine of physical exercises.
